Roots and Wings International

Reception

Overview

Our Reception class is the final year of the Early Years curriculum, designed to prepare children for the exciting transition into Key Stage 1. In this year, we focus on building strong foundations in reading and writing through carefully structured, step-by-step approaches that make learning fun and accessible for every child. Children grow in confidence as they begin to blend sounds, form words, and write simple sentences, all while continuing to learn through play, exploration, and meaningful activities.

Alongside literacy, we nurture early maths skills, problem-solving, creativity, and social development, ensuring children are curious, capable, and ready for the next stage of their education. Our warm, supportive environment gives each child the encouragement and guidance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally as they take this important step forward.
